Up to the problem of reception of medieval traditions in the art of XVII - beginning of XVIII centuries

Medieval traditions in European culture of XVII-XVIII centuries assume a wide specter of interpretations - from the principal rejecting of this unaesthetic epoch to the complex system of treatment of medieval art heritage in architectural theory and practice, in facade sculpture or churches and monastic cloisters, in painting and engraving, depicting Gothic structures. The conception of Middle Ages, understood in the context of F. Braudel s or «Annales» school theory, permit to extend the chronological frames of the period and the stylistical characteristic of several trends and schools, that helps to investigate the supplementary aspects of the topic when we study the reception of traditions in culture of XVII-XVIII centuries. Modern medievistic validly examine the material connected with the epochs of Barocco, Rococo and Classicism.
