Античная расписная керамика: от «предмета быта» до «музейного экспоната»: к вопросу о восприятии, коллекционировании и изучении

Статья посвящена проблеме изменения восприятия античной расписной керамики в веках. Создаваемые для того чтобы быть предметами быта и культа, афинские черно- и краснофигурные вазы были забыты после упадка древнегреческой цивилизации. В Европе XVII-XVIII вв., найденные в результате раскопок в разных центрах Средиземноморья, эти вазы стали объектом интереса знатоков, сначала занимая места в кунсткамерах, наравне с разными любопытными вещицами - окаменелыми скелетами животных, раковинами, драгоценными камнями, а впоследствии - в музеях, наряду с античными скульптурами из мрамора и бронзы. Конец XIX - начало XX в. изменили вновь восприятие античной расписной керамики: на той же волне, что и интерес к атрибуции полотен старых европейских мастеров, начался «век атрибуции» античной вазописи. Вместе с интересом к формальному стилистическому анализу росписей сосудов началось и восприятие их как «произведений искусства». Так, будучи не созданными для музейного контекста, античные горшки стали музейными экспонатами. И хотя для изучения керамики произошедшее сыграло во многом положительную роль, были у этого явления и недостатки, заключающиеся в подходе к керамике, разительно отличающемся от того, каков он был для ее создателей и современников.
