The article is devoted to the f nal period of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, about the relationship of I. Stalin and thegenerals and marshals, who were the Fronts commanders. The destruction of many prominent scientists working in the defenseindustries, as well as the isolation of a signif cant number of them in prisons and camps, caused irreparable damage to both themilitary production as a whole and the creation of various types of weapons. Deliveries of many of the latest models of militaryequipment to the army, for various reasons and, above all, because of repression, were delayed for a long time. All this togetherin the conditions of the outbreak of war led to signif cant losses in the personnel of the army and navy, civilians, the destructionof Soviet cities and villages, and the prolonged occupation of a signif cant territory of the country. The author convincinglydemonstrates that the War was won contrary to the Stalinism and repressions, mostly because of the strategy talent of theformer of cers of the Russian Imperial army and of the generals that were released from prisons.
