For understanding Korean culture, the interpretation of its visual images is of particular importance. After all, it is through them that the value meanings of a given culture are embodied, and this means that a way is open for understanding its specif city. Visual images have a communicative nature, according to which an image is born in the process of its interpretation through the prism of cultural values and meanings. The article is devoted to establishing the specif cs of the "Korean view" by referring to the history of the development of visual practices. Visual studies and the axiological perspective of cultural studies are the methodological foundations of this study of Korean visual culture. Four types of Korean visual practices were identif ed, based on the historical reconstruction of the vision. Each type of visual practice involves the visual communication specif cs in accordance with values. The results showed a historical dif erence in the motivation for creating and interpreting Korean images. Reconstruction of the history of vision allowed to establish the integrity and continuity of Korean visual culture.
