Some results of preparation of masters of library and information activity in SPbGIK

Some results and problems of training of masters in library and information work on the basis of library-information faculty, St. Petersburg state Institute of culture (SPbGIK) are describe. The statistics of the contingent of students for eight years (2011–2019), the percentage of admission and graduation, including the departments of the faculty; the percentage of students with specialized and non-core education; statistics of employment of students by correspondence; statistics of citizenship of students, etc are shown. The comparative analysis of statistical data is carried out, the main conclusions are presented. The main problems of recruitment and training of full-time and part-time students, including foreign citizens are identif ed; the systemic problems of magistracy as the second level of higher education in the library and information industry are identif ed. The current situation with the development of an approximate basic educational program in connection with the approval of FGOS3++ and its introduction in September 2019 is presented.
