Nikolay Petrovich Fomin is a remarkable activist in Russian culture, one of the founders of Russian folk orchestra, conductor and composer. Through the XX century explorers was not paying a lot of attention to studying his life, but from the 2000’s interest for his life and works has increased. Written in the last decade works about N. P. Fomin are based on documents stored in the Russian institure of art archives. There are Fomin’s notes and memories of M. P. Zarayski’s – former Russian folk orchestra secretary. These unique documents give us an impression about foundation of orchestra and the very begining of folk instruments performance tradition, also true figures of V. Andreev, N. Fomin and their colleagues are interesting.
