One of the important directions of historical and book research is the problem of the activity of an individual in the book market in a historical context. Using the method of bibliographic reconstruction of biography provides an opportunity to expand and clarify the established ideas about the history of book trade in Russia in the second half of the XVIII century. Sources that allowed adding new previously unknown facts to biographies and information about the professional activities of well-known publishers and book-sellers of St. Petersburg in the second half of the 18th century, I. K. Shnor, K. V. Miller and I. Ya. Veitbrekht, came from the funds of the Central the State Historical Archives of St. Petersburg, which at first glance are not directly related to the publication and distribution of printed publications by these booksellers - foreigners - of the St. Petersburg Lower Court, Education society of noble maidens and the St. Petersburg Chamber of the Civil Court.
