The play-concept of J. Huizinga became one of the responses to the question how the phenomenon of culture has arisen in the natural world. According to the theory of its creator, human has always had a tendency to invest many aspects of his life in forms of play behavior. The game was the structural foundation of human actions, and such a high and sacred reality as a religious cult also had a play character. In this article we will try to find out whether this is true with respect to the Jain ritual tradition, and, if yes, what is the meaning of this game.
