The interpretation of the term «vyakarana» in the Buddhist written culture

The article is devoted to the analysis of the term vyākaraṇa in the Buddhist written culture. The author argues that one of the common in the Russian and World Buddhist studies meanings - «prophecy» - is wrong (because Buddhism doesn’t correspond with the definition «Prophetic Religion») and doesn’t exist in the Early Buddhist texts. The article suggests that vyākaraṇa is the method of the description of the Buddhist «Principle of the Dependent Origination» (pratītya-samutpāda) that allows to model consciously the possible circumstances of a good new birth that understood wrongly as prophecy in Buddhism. The second part of the article is devoted to the attempt of the interpretation of the Buddhist vyākaraṇa as the complex of analysis and synthesis techniques for the purpose of the controlled prognosis of the results of a human activities aimed at realization of the ideal of the Buddhist religious practice - the achievement of Nirvāṇa.
