Children’s centers in national libraries: prospect of development

The development of the system of library services for children is an important activity in many national libraries around the world. The need to attract the younger generation to the library, to find and develop innovative methods of providing library services are crucial for the development of reading culture and information literacy. The article tells about the plans of the National Library of Russia for the creation of a virtual children’s center and explains the need to pay more attention to the future readers of the library which, with the participation of foreign partners, would organize virtual excursions and exhibitions and was engaged in project activities for the organization of children’s competitions, quizzes, etc.
