Phenomenon of replication in the terminology of science of culture

The article is a response to a series of publications by I. V. Leonov and O. V. Prokudenkova, and is devoted to the so-called«novodel». The author analyzes how this word appropriates as a scientif c term. The existing terminological analogues, longestablished in the research practice are cited. In this work, much attention is paid to the process of replication, reproduction ofclassical motifs, basic patterns in art culture. Borrowing, copying, creative citation, reconstruction and repetition are shown as acomplex sequence of actions, devoid of binary logic, and therefore does not f t into the semantic boundaries of a single term. Thearticle provides numerous examples that do not f t into the logic of «novodel». Events from the history of architecture, sculpture,painting are described, the question of how the phenomenon of replication in scientif c and technical culture is actualized israised. As a test for the viability of the term, which was proposed by I. V. Leonov and O. V. Prokudenkova, the author, hypotheticallyexpanding the scope of its application, focuses on potential cases from the history of design and technical creativity.
