The phenomenon of new sensitivity and youth subcultures (on the example of the «Kino» group creativity)

The view on subculture as a mechanism of transformation and change in society helps to clarify creative activities’ featuresand specif cs of the leaders’ Soviet informal youth communities 1980s. The basis of this view is the idea of contrasting nature andculture, and the idea of culture as deconstruction mechanism of reality. In the course of such deconstruction, the body of cultureis particularly sensitive to structural changes in the formats of dif erent subcultures. The formation of small communities within a«big» culture and the resulting ground for various types of informal local solidarity are closely linked to the therapeutic function,which is necessary to restore social balance and clarify social inequality. The rock-band «Kino» creative activity is an example ofthe 1980s subcultural phenomenon to reveal the basic principle of the new sensuality – the being in experiencehic et nuncof unfolding events in opposition to the language labyrinths of rational understanding of reality, created by the culture of «big»society. The attitude towards life and language as a practical activity here is opposed to rational and deliberate adhering to thelanguage normative order, and is interpreted as a source of new and unexpected manifestations of sensuality. The new socialsensibilities are captured through the identif cation of four «pain points» identif ed in numerous interviews with Victor Tsoi. Thef rst «point» indicates the situation of lack of choice – the choice is only in the language, and in the experience we have onlywhat we have; the second «point» relates to the notion of the creative process as a kind of «getting in time» practice; the third«point» directly indicates that following the fashion (to be in the language, not in the experience), means to make compromises,to follow a rule, means not to do what the group members are really interested in; and f nally, the fourth «point» takes on the importance of personal interest and engagement – to be in thehic et nuncof a particular action
