The nature of novelty is manifested not only in unexpected or expected appearance, but is able to open in
different ways in changes of cultural periods. In the struggle of the new against the old, there is a constant flickering of meanings that turn out to be either relevant or obsolete. An attempt has been made to address the novelty in aspects of cultural change, the attitude of the new to some characteristic principles. The study of changes in the new and its interpretations is considered within the boundaries of modernism, postmodern and metamodern.
The possible roll-over of meanings turns out to be both formal and substantial and reflects the real processes of
free interactions of cultural meanings. The conditionality of selecting categories for comparison highlighted in
the text does not exclude the emphasis of reflection on characteristic differences reflecting the actual features of
cultural paradigm. The study of novelty, its nature and changes in cultural contexts proves to be the most important method of predicting and anticipating further cultural processes.
