The article is devoted to the study of the semantics of Siberian crane in the culture of Yakutia. The question
is raised about the presence of a “zoomorphic code” in traditional culture, which is involved in the formation
of a picture of the world. The general characteristic of ornithological images in the picture of the Sakha world
is given, the semantic characteristics of the Siberian Crane image in the Yakut culture are systematized and
consistently revealed. According to these characteristics, the Siberian crane appears as: the embodiment of
freedom and the reflection of the unknown side of life; reflection of the spiritual appearance of the Middle Earth, a mediator between heaven and earth; the personification of spring and happiness; as a deity personified in a female image; ancestor, a reflection of the feminine; tribal totem; as a symbol of girl beauty; symbol of integrity as a woman-heavenly shaman; a sign of acceptance of the prayer of the shaman from the deities. Analysis of some aspects of the Siberian crane semantics is carried out taking into account their historical and genetic additions. Various examples of figuring out the image of the Siberian Crane in the modern culture of Yakutia are separately considered.
