Local textbooks on the history of books

A series of papers is devoted to the current state of affairs and prospects for the development of Russian
textbooks on book science. Local textbooks and workbooks on the history of books and book business that
have been released over the past 50 years are explored in the second article. Textbooks written E. I. Katsprzhak, I. E. Barenbaum and I. A. Shomrakova, E. A. Rostovtseva, Yu. Ya. Gerchuk, V. A. Esipova and other authors, textbooks on the history of writing, textbooks prepared by academic staff of Moscow State University of Printing Arts of I. Fedorov are analyzed in detail. It is concluded that the existing Russian educational literature on the history of books has seriously lagged behind the advanced achievements of book science. This is due to the fact that the development of book communication is typically enunciated out of touch with the history of culture and other media, as well as out of the history of reading practices and their impact on society.
