The project of Joseph Beuys "7000 oaks" as a way of healing from the injuries of historical memory

The article is devoted to the project of Joseph Beuys “7000 oaks”. This project was created for the Documenta 7 in Kassel. It is the most ambitious project of the artist. In it, he proposed planting oaks on the way from Kassel to Russia. This project combines environmental, social and historical values. It seems relevant that the project also has a pacifist focus. The article also analyzes the installation “The End of the 20th Century”, which uses basalt slabs that were used in the “7000 Oaks”. Usually the “7000 Oaks” was considered from the environmental or social point of view. The article focuses on its historical context, since the circumstances of its creation between Germany and Russia, the post-war period and the taboo on the tragedy of the war make it possible to say that this was also relevant for that time. The scientific novelty of this study is an aspect of historical memory associated with the trauma of war.
