Regional branches of the Society for the Study of Kazakhstan had an undeniable influence on the development of the museum network in the regions of Kazakhstan in the 20-40s of the XX century. A detailed reconstruction of the influence of the local branches of the Society on the regional local history museums of Kazakhstan made it possible to reconstruct the areas of interaction, the results of joint work, regional differences and determine their role in the development of museum work and local history. The study of the materials of the regional archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan makes it possible to take a fresh look at the existing assessment of the work of the Society in the direction of the implementation of the state local history policy. Objective reconstruction makes it possible to identify regional specifics, the influence of existing personnel, the young Soviet state and civil society on the formation of the museum network of northern Kazakhstan, the direct successor of which is the modern museum institutions of this region.
