Overlooking the changes in the 19 century jazz, one can notice a 10-15 years reccurrence of developmental shifts. The work of outstanding performers reveals a three-way trend of «traditionalism», «modernism» and «avant-garde». These three concepts come up in Dixieland, the Swing era and bebop, which we re focusing on. The ideas were largely drawn from the analysis of a few dozen celebrated artists musical legacy.
