The Second World War and the fate of Russian libraries: catalog of the lost

Since 1998, the Ministry of Culture publishes a multivolume catalog of cultural property stolen and lost during World War II. One of the volumes of the catalog devoted to the losses of Russian libraries. On the creation of this catalog on the basis of archival documents of the Operations Staff Reichsleiter Rosenberg is working team of staff National Library of Russia (NLR). Creating such lists requires high skills and precision of execution and allows for a civilized dialogue on the restoration of the lost book values.
