Amateur and folk arts: modern sociocultural transformations

The article is devoted to the problems of the analysis of the resources of amateur and folk arts. The examples, which demonstrate the sustainability of preserving folk traditions in various forms, are given. The changes in the tendencies of the functional purpose of folk-art culture, enhancement of its importance in culturological, informative, artistic, aesthetic and applied aspects are shown. The reasons for the occurrence and inclusion of compensatory functions in this fi eld in the modern sociocultural environment, in the system of human personality development and actualization of its potentials are revealed. The mechanisms of preservation and transmission of cultural values by means of amateur and folk arts are considered. The specifi c features of contemporary amateur and folk arts have been demonstrated and its holistic, complex and variational nature has been ascertained. The basic sociocultural functions of amateur and folk arts and the existing transformations in modern conditions have been identifi ed and substantiated. The distinctive features of the inclusion of society in the process of amateur and folk arts are shown
