Vocal performance in jazz is one of the most important aspects of this music, for whatever time we talk. The first performers of the Blues and many performers of the following decades – the period of the New Orleans jazz, swing era, bee-bop, contemporary jazz – are of the interest. Talented singers-improvisers have used and continue to use scat up to this day in addition to the pronunciation of the main musical text. They expose their melody and rhythmic line with the help of special reception – scat. The subject of this study is the origin, development and some aspects of the reception of scat.
