Art-collections of Ptolemaic dynasty, 323-305 BC

Process of a collecting of works of painting and plasticity in the period of board of the first four monarchs of a dynasty Ptolemeev is investigated. Not only on scales, but also on quality indicators (high level of systematization of collections by schools, authors, plots and genres) governors of Egypt held superiority among monarchs of the Hellenistic world. The writers belonging to the commonwealth of attendants of the well-known Museum in Alexandria were engaged in an assessment and verbal descriptions of collections (Callixenus of Rhodos, Moschion). Also, being engaged in scrupulous researches in spheres of the Hellenic mythology and national history, having extensive knowledge, Alexandria intellectual writers, acted as consultants of court artists and sculptors, whose works, besides expensive purchases and military trophies, filled up imperial collections. The Egyptian experience is acquired further by monarchs of other Hellenistic states, then emperors and citizens of the Roman Empire and, through cultural heritage of Rome, transferred to Modern times.
