Paradoxes of literature flow about national libraries of world

Features of the flow of literature related to the activities of national libraries (NL) of various countries of the world are considered. The conclusion is made that NL, for all their prominence, remains the least researched type of library, which is facilitated by a number of objective factors. There is a tendency for visibility, laconism and unification of existing publications, insignificant attention to the study of perception of the activity of the NL by the society, a small amount of literature on the scientific activity of the NL, etc. Among the factors influencing the specificity of the literature flow are stereotypes of the professional consciousness of librarians, stratification of publications for paper and electronic, depending on their content, low visibility of articles about NL among notes about other types of libraries, unequal distribution of materials on specific topics and professional journals, as well as the selective attitude of «independent» media to the events taking place in the largest book depositories.
