Cultural and educational potential of folk musical instruments

The article unfolds the cultural and educational potential of folk instruments in musical education. It also
shows and analyzes modern reality of fi nding resources for a child’s social development and ethnocultural self-
identifi cation on the basis of socio-cultural values of folk musical culture, folk instruments capabilities within the
sphere of their functional use and through the lens of multidimensional and complex infl uence. Organological
properties of folk instruments in solving educational, culturalogical and socio-educational tasks are analyzed.
There is a correlation analysis of folk instrument music-making with basic functions of socio-cultural activity:
communicative interaction formation, solving of informational and educational tasks, performance of culture-
forming activities, and maintaining body and mind health. The article actualizes value of playing folk instruments
as a source of a child’s active perception of environment, and formation of social education processes within the
native cultural values system, dynamic communication with other children, and development of personal qualities.
Socio-cultural eff ects of using the folk instruments in musical education are highlighted.
