Artists on the War: value of front graphics

The article considers the service of professional artists L. I. Ershov, A. A. Krotkov, S. F. Babkov. Each with a weapon in his hands defended his native land, only occasionally having the opportunity to draw. Separately, the service of artists of the Main Political Administration of the Navy, which was held at the Political Administration of the Red Banner Baltic, Northern, Black Sea Fleets and the Danube Flotilla, is separately allocated. The main tasks of S. S. Boim, B. I. Prorokov, Yu. M. Neprintsev, A. V. Treskin, I. F. Merkeev, A . A. Merkulov, L. V. Soifertis, K. G. Dorokhov was the creation of «artistic documents» and visual agitation. Often changed their purpose, the artists managed to cover a wide geographical range of military events. Numerous drawings, sketches already in the post-war period became material for the creation of monumental and easel paintings, which refl ected the picture of various military events.
