The influence of information and communication technologies and software on the representation of cultural heritage in the digital environment is considered. The current approaches of digital humanities to the presentation of urban cultural heritage using geographic information systems are analyzed, particular attention is paid to the phenomena of “deep map” and geospatial narratives in the context of the concepts of Bodenhamer and cultural geographers. The possibilities and limitations of existing open digital tools and software for the representation of local history data is considered as well as the creation of geospatial narratives in a dynamic virtual environment, accessible to a wide audience of users is analyzed. An attempt to comprehend and interpret the theories of Bodenhamer and Kronon is made using the example of the developed cross-platform solution for the collection, storage and visualization of local history data, based on the links between city locations and personalities in a historical and cultural retrospective.
