Dmitry Bagaev – keeper of the cultural heritage of the peoples of Kazakhstan

The article is devoted to the reconstruction of the main stages of the creative path of the outstanding local historian, journalist, photographer, philanthropist, chronicler of Pavlodar Priirtyshye D. P. Bagaev. The authors show the role of D. P. Bagaev in the creation of the first museum of Pavlodar Priirtyshye, based on previously unpublished documentary sources of the State archives of Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan regions and the Center for documentation of the modern history of Semipalatinsk. It is indicated that the local history photographs of D. P. Bagaev formed the basis for studies of the folklore of the Kazakh people living in northern Kazakhstan at the beginning of the XX century. Active public activity allowed D. P. Bagaev to unite the efforts of representatives of Kazakh and Russian culture, which contributed to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the peoples of Kazakhstan.
