The article is devoted to the memory of Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, honored laborer of science of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, International Academy of Sciences of Higher School Svetlana Nikolaeva Ikonnikova (1930–2022). The article shows the main milestones of the scholar’s research path and reveals the contribution of S. N. Ikonnikova to the formation of culturology as a scientific discipline, the role in the institutionalization of the scientific discipline «culturology». The main works of S. N. Ikonnikova are characterized, which played a role in the formation of several directions in culturology: the history of cultural thought, the biographical approach, the theory and history of culture, the daily life culture, youth culture, historical culturology.
