The problem of falsifications of works of late Soviet art is becoming increasingly urgent and acute for both private collectors and the museum community. One of the reliable and effective methods of detecting falsifications is technological examination, which aims to determine the time of creation of an artwork.

The purpose of the present work is to estimate the possibility of using a group of phthalocyanine pigments as a dating pigment for the works of Soviet masters painted in the period from 1950 to 1980. A technological study of more than 150 dated paintings of the mentioned period from various museum and private collections allowed us to identify only 11 works where pigments from the phthalocyanine group were used. Comparison of the research results and archival data on the formulations of paints based on phthalocyanine compounds produced at Leningrad Factory of Artistic Paints allowed us to identify cases when artists used foreign-made paints.
