Light in the cinema has a powerful artistic and plastic potential, allowing the director to transform the shooting reality, contributing to the formation of conventionality in the screen image. For example the film «Rain» by Dutch documentarian Joris Ivens shows, how the expressive possibilities of light were developed during the formation of the cinema language.
